RAUNCHY Joined By Former THE HAARP MACHINE Singer
March 14, 2013Danish modern metallers RAUNCHY have parted ways with singer Kasper Thomsen and have replaced him with Mike Semesky (formerly of THE HAARP MACHINE).
Commented the band: "Sadly, Kasper has decided to leave the band. No drama whatsoever, and we wish him the best of luck in the future.
"Kasper has been a big part of RAUNCHY and done a great job on the last three albums and will remain a good friend.
"We are proud to welcome the very talented Mike Semesky as the new lead singer. After hearing his vocals on some early demos for the forthcoming RAUNCHY album, we are beyond satisfied and very excited to start a new chapter with Mike.
"We are still writing and demoing ideas for the next album and we expect to enter the studio later this year. We have some tour dates coming up for late June and October, so stay tuned."
Added Kasper in a statement: "From this day, I will no longer be a part of [RAUNCHY]. It is solely my own decision, and there are absolutely no hard feelings between me and my brothers in the band.
"Playing with my brothers for almost nine years has been nothing but extraordinary; we have released excellent albums, we have toured most of the world, we've played the biggest festivals and I've been privileged enough to be a part of it all.
"Wow, what a rush it has been!
"But every good thing must come to an end, and I feel it is time for me to step down and rest with all my good memories.
"I don't know what the future will bring, but I'm certain it holds new possibilities and new adventures for me and my family.
"I want to thank my brothers in the band for this amazing journey and for always believing in me – and I want to thank all of our fans for their endless support.
"Even though I'm no longer a part of this endeavor, the band will continue to write a crushing new record for you to enjoy in a not-so-distant future.
"Please welcome the new man onboard as warmly as you welcomed me — and please continue to support the band with all of your heart — that's all I wish for."
RAUNCHY's "NGHT PRTY" video can be seen below. The song comes off the band's latest album, "A Discord Electric", which was released in September 2010 via Lifeforce Records.
Produced once again by longtime friend Jacob Hansen, "A Discord Electric" was previously described by Thomsen as "by far the most experimental, the most challenging, and the most interesting album we have come up with since the beginning of the band . . . Every member of [RAUNCHY] has had the freedom to take things to the limits, above and beyond, and believe me, boundaries are transparent this time around."
