Report: New Zealand Police Fail To Stop Heavy Metal Concert At Illegal Club
March 2, 2008Ian Steward of Stuff.co.nz reports that an illegal all-ages club was allowed to continue with a controversial heavy metal concert in Christchurch, New Zealand during the weekend despite police vows to shut the venue.
The club, Underground, on Bath Street near South City Centre, has no council consent. It was under scrutiny last week after it advertised a heavy metal concert called Kiddyfest — featuring the bands SACRAMENT, GOREHOUSE, INNARD SPLATTER, VARRAGHOR, PLAGUE OF THE FALLEN and BENEATH THE SILENCE — on a poster showing a young boy without pants. The poster also advertised strippers on stage.
Patrons had reported under-age drinking at the venue.
