Report: ROCKLAHOMA Brings In Hair Bands And Revenue

Heather Caliendo of The Journal Record reports: Those who defined a genre with teased-up hair and tattoos are coming back to what some call the party of the century — Rocklahoma.

Rock musicians such as BRET MICHAELS and WARRANT are making their way to a town of about 8,500 people.Touted as the first of its kind, Rocklahoma once again returns to Pryor, bringing back the ‘80s bands that personified the name "hair bands."

"The actual event is like a high school reunion for a bunch of kids, but these are '80s hair bands," said Mark Nuessle, founder and general manager of Rocklahoma, which opens today and continues through Sunday.

The concert may be smack in the middle of rural Oklahoma, but last year's event brought in daily crowds of over 30,000. People came from every state in the United States and 37 countries on every continent except Antarctica.

"We really hit on something and a got a buzz going," said Nuessle. "They say all roads lead to Rome, well it seems all roads lead to Rocklahoma. People just went crazy over it and we got blessed with it."
