ROB ZOMBIE Speaks Out On Delayed RAMONES Tribute Album
December 31, 2002ROB ZOMBIE says that assembling a such a quality line-up for the RAMONES tribute album, "We're A Happy Family", was very time-consuming. The album is due Feb. 11, but the release date has changed several times. Zombie worked with RAMONES guitarist Johnny Ramone as co-producer of the project. He was asked if he was surprised to see big guns such as the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS, U2, and KISS sign on to participate in the project. "Yes and no. It didn't surprise me that people would want to do it. Because a lot of bands like U2 and METALLICA have always cited the RAMONES as a big influence. What surprised me more was that it actually got done. And it wasn't easy. That's why the record kept getting delayed because just trying to...The hardest part is just trying go get that many different acts to get into the studio and record and do their thing. Because they're all very busy, they're all spread all over the world, and on tour and doing things. That's why it was such a long project."
