ROB ZOMBIE Speaks Out On LIONEL RICHIE/TRINA Collaboration
February 8, 2003ROB ZOMBIE recently commented on his collaboration with Lionel Richie and female rapper Trina on "Brickhouse 2003", a version of the '70s pop and R&B hit. The Zombified track will appear as part of the soundtrack for ZOMBIE's movie "House Of 1000 Corpses", which hits stores March 18. The soundtrack will also feature five new Rob Zombie tunes.
"One night me and my manager Andy Gould were shooting around ideas for the soundtrack and since the original version of 'Brickhouse' is in the movie we thought maybe a cover version would be cool," Rob explained. "Then the idea of Lionel came up and I thought, 'Fuck, yes! This is so fucking wrong that it makes perfect sense.' The movie is so fucked that we needed something equally as fucked to go with it. Once [Lionel and I] were done [with our tracks], Lionel said we should get a female rapper to lay down a couple verses, I mean the song is about a girl who is stacked so it makes sense. We mailed the tapes to Trina and she sent us back a killer rap, I think it really fits the mood of the song, it's tough, really hardcore."
Other Zombie tunes on the soundtrack for "House Of 1000 Corpses" include "Run, Rabbit, Run", "Little Piggy", "House Of 1000 Corpses", "Everybody Scream!" , and "Pussy Liquor". "House Of 1000 Corpses: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack" also features THE RAMONES' "Now I Wanna Sniff Some Glue", BUCK OWENS' "Who's Gonna Mow Your Grass", HELEN KANE's "I Just Want To Be Loved By You" and the SLIM WHITMAN interpretation of the '40s standard "I Remember You".
