SABATON Singer Comments On U.S. Chart 'Accomplishment'
July 8, 2010"Coat Of Arms", the fifth album from Swedish metallers SABATON, sold around 450 copies in the United States in its first week of release. The CD landed at position No. 124 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
En route to Frankfurt, Germany for a festival appearance, SABATON lead singer Joakim Brodén checks in from the airport in Stockholm about the band's accomplishment in North America:
"'Coat Of Arms' keeps bringing us amazing news all the time it seems. Six Swedish heavy metal retards in camo pants on the Billboard charts? Never thought I'd see the day! I'm not sure I believe it, but if it's true, we're the happiest Swedes alive at this moment! What's next, pink aliens at Wal-Mart?
"Thanks to all our American brothers and sisters and cousins who actually bought our album instead of downloading it!
"Damn, we've just GOT to find some way to get over to America on this tour!"
"Coat Of Arms" first-week chart positions:
Sweden: #4
Poland: #9
Finland: #17
Germany: #19
