SENTENCED: Reaching The End Of The Road

August 30, 2005

Finnish masters of melancholic, suicidal rock SENTENCED, who reportedly brought tears to the eyes of quite some of the truly dedicated fans at their farewell show at Wacken Open Air this year, are slowly reaching the end of the road. Soon the band will rest in peace forever. One small cure for the agonising wrench is the new video stream to "Ever-Frost", taken from the group's final release, "The Funeral Album", which was shot by Mika Ronkainen for Klaffi Productions and should leave no fan of the band dissatisfied. Check it out at this location (Real Media).

"The Funeral Album" reached position No. 1 on the official Finnish chart, No. 49 on the German chart and No. 59 on the Austrian chart.

Guitarist Sami Lopakka commented: "We decided to finish our career with this album, and knew already in the writing-process that this one would become our last. It is a farewell album and this is the funeral tour."

SENTENCED's "very last show" on Saturday, October 1, 2005, at Club Teatria in Oulu, Finland will be filmed and recorded, and released in early 2006 as a live DVD (tentatively titled "Buried Alive").

The follow-up to 2002's "The Cold White Light", "The Funeral Album" was recorded primarily at Finnvox and Tonebox studios (both in Finland),and mixed and mastered at Finnvox. Producing the effort was Hiili Hiilesmaa, who also worked with the group on their last two albums, 2000's "Crimson" and "The Cold White Light".
