SHADOW CIRCUS Announces New Bassist

August 26, 2008

New York progressive rockers SHADOW CIRCUS have announced the addition of bassist Jason Croft to the group's ranks. Jason is a veteran of the New York metal scene, having made a name for himself with SERPENT'S LAIR, the progressive metal creation of the late Jimi Plocica.

"Jason's experience and skill is escalating this band's sound to a whole new level," says SHADOW CIRCUS founder and guitarist John Fontana, "not only as a bassist, but as a keyboard player and vocalist, we will be able to take this new album to even greater musical heights than we had even hoped for."

Does this mean that the follow-up to "Welcome to the Freakroom" will lean more towards metal?

"There are some parts of this album that are heavier than the first one, and there's no doubt that Jason can help bring that facet of it to life…but there are also some parts of this album that are quite soft, some things are classically influenced and even involve orchestral instruments – the full dynamic range is there, and Jason seems to excel at everything we throw at him!"

The band expects to have the new CD completed by the New Year and released by ProgRock Records.
