SHARON OSBOURNE: I Asked To Be Released From Talk-Show Contract
January 29, 2004A spokesperson for Sharon Osbourne has confirmed to Billboard.com that "The Sharon Osbourne Show", the syndicated daytime talk show hosted by the wife/manager of Ozzy Osbourne, has been cancelled (as first reported here on Jan. 22). Time Warner's Telepictures, the show's producers, denied that the talk show was officially cancelled, although several sources involved with the show confirmed to Billboard that it is ceasing production.
Sharon herself has yet to publicly comment on the cancellation. However, in an interview with USA Today, Osbourne said she asked to be released from her contract in December following husband Ozzy's near-fatal ATV crash.
Meanwhile, a new season of "The Osbournes", MTV's reality show based around the family life of Sharon and Ozzy, kicked off on the music network Tuesday night (Jan. 27).
According to USA Today, Ozzy's accident will show up in episode five, when the singer returns to the family's Buckinghamshire estate in England. He and daughter Kelly were in the U.K. to promote their duet "Changes", a track he originally recorded with BLACK SABBATH.
