SHELL SHOCK Featuring DOWN, CROWBAR Members: Rare Track Posted Online
April 29, 2007Legendary New Orleans '80s punk/hardcore pioneers SHELL SHOCK, whose lineup once included future CROWBAR members Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower, have a fan-run MySpace site at this location.
Kirk Windstein joined SHELL SHOCK in early 1988 after original vocalist Greg Hatch moved to California. This version of SHELL SHOCK recorded an album's worth of material, dubbed "No Tomorrow", which was shelved after founding member Mike "Hatch Boy" Hatch took his own life in November of 1988. From the ashes of this band, Kirk Windstein and Jimmy Bower formed THE SLUGS which later turned into CROWBAR.
A rare rough-mixed version of the SHELL SHOCK track "No Tomorrow" has been posted on the above-mentioned MySpace page (it is the fifth song in the player). It was recorded in the summer of 1988.
SHELL SHOCK lineup for this recording:
Kirk Windstein: Guitar, Vocals
Mike "Hatch Boy" Hatch: Guitar
Mike Savioe: Bass
Jimmy Bower: Drums
After leaving SHELL SHOCK, bassist Mike Savioe pursued a career as a video director. He has since helmed videos for CROWBAR ("All I Had (I Gave)"),DOWN ("Stone the Crow") and PANTERA ("Drag the Waters").
