Signed Eight-Foot SLASH Sculpture Arrives At 'British Music Experience'
October 17, 2017For a limited time, guests at the British Music Experience will have the opportunity to come face to face to with a larger-than-life metal representation of the rock legend Slash.
Famed for his time spent as GUNS N' ROSES lead guitarist, Slash has been hailed as one of the greatest guitar players of all time. The sculpture, made entirely of of scrapped car and bike metal, as well as discarded instrument parts, took around twelve days to create and has been signed by the man himself. The sculpture also showcases a Slash signature Gibson guitar.
Heavy Metal Sculptures are the craftsmen responsible for the giant piece. HMS was founded by concept designer and artist Simon Weitzman with welder and finisher Darren Kenny. The duo recycle scrapped car, bike and musical instrument parts to create large scale sculptural installations of iconic rock stars.
The sculpture appeared at the British Music Awards last year and has just completed a residency at St Pancras where he was the subject of over sixty thousand selfies.
Said Weitzman: "We are absolutely delighted and honoured to have our sculpture of Slash put on display at the British Music Experience. As Slash is originally a British lad, it is fitting that his sculpture would come to the home of music, Liverpool and be situated at such a prestigious venue. We hope lots of people enjoy the sculpture, get their picture taken with it and help promote both Slash's great cause with the IFAW and the British Music Experience as a venue. Looking forward to hopefully sharing more of our work with the British Music Experience's guests in the future."
The sculpture will be showcased in the British Music Experience from October 21.
