SINERGY Joined By THE IRON MAIDENS Bassist
July 19, 2002Finland's SINERGY have recruited bassist Melanie Sisneros to permanently replace Marco Hietala, who left the group earlier year to join NIGHTWISH on a full-time basis.
"Sisneros [is] no stranger to playing in metal bands," reads a statement on SINERGY's official web site. "She's been playing bass for over 11 years and has lots of recording and stage experience. [SINERGY vocalist] Kimberly [Goss] has known her for over a year now and they've built a strong friendship over the course of that time.
"Melanie prepared an audition DVD with her playing five SINERGY songs. They didn't have time to send her any notes, tabs or sketches of the songs, so she learned them 100% by ear and played them flawlessly! The DVD also included live performances of her playing with two of her former bands, NEW EDEN (progressive power metal) & RAVEN MAD (thrash metal) and also live clips of her current cover band THE IRON MAIDENS (an all-female tribute to IRON MAIDEN featuring two members of the all-female hard rock band PHANTOM BLUE).
"Melanie will come to Finland at the end of august to start rehearsing with SINERGY for their upcoming tours in the autumn. Next spring she will move to Finland from California to start working with the band on their 4th album.
When asked about the new addition to the band, Kimberly responded by saying, "It's so fuckin' cool to not only have another American in the band now, but it's an added bonus that she happens to be female! Now I have someone who can truly relate to me while being on the road. I've been in so many situations where I was the only woman of like 50 guys on a tour, and that can get pretty lonely at times, believe it or not! Guys have their own way of bonding, and us girls have our way (metal girls that is!). The few times where I have been on the road with other females has always been a great experience and that made me think about how awesome it would be to have another woman in SINERGY someday. I never dreamed that we'd ever find a woman who could keep up with the playing abilities of the guys in the band, but damn...... MELANIE KICKS ASS & TOTALLY ROCKS! I can't wait to bring her on tour with us!"
SINERGY's last gig with session bassist Lauri Porra will take place at the Wacken Open Air festival in Wacken, Germany on August 3rd.
