SLIPKNOT's CLOWN: 'I Have A Feeling We Could Win A GRAMMY This Year'
December 11, 2005SLIPKNOT members Shawn "Clown" Crahan (percussion) and Jim Root (guitar) spoke to The Des Moines Register about being nominated for a Grammy for the sixth consecutive year. The single "Before I Forget" from the band's third album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)", was nominated for Best Metal Performance alongside songs by MINISTRY, MUDVAYNE, RAMMSTEIN and SHADOWS FALL — all bands that SLIPKNOT has toured with.
"I'm honored to be nominated again," Crahan said on Thursday (Dec. 8). "I have a feeling we could win this year."
SLIPKNOT has yet to take home a Grammy trophy, having competed in previous years with such heavy-hitters as METALLICA.
"They're breaking us down to the point where we really don't care we're nominated," was Root's more jaded reaction. "By the time we're so far over it, when we win one it'll be a real surprise." He added that he has a "nice collection of Grammy medallions they send you when you get nominated," manufactured by Tiffany.
The 48th Grammys will be awarded in a telecast Feb. 8 on CBS from the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
