July 18, 2008

The Pulse of Radio reports: The SMASHING PUMPKINS have begun confirming more dates for their late summer North American tour, according to LiveDaily.com. The band has unveiled four new shows in addition to a previously announced and already sold-out August 9 stop in Hammond, Indiana. The trek now begins on August 8 in Davenport, Iowa, with more dates expected soon. Tickets for a show in Clearwater, Florida are available on Friday (July 18),with the others going on sale Saturday (July 19).

Following the summer excursion, the PUMPKINS will play a series of shows in November to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary.

PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan said in a post at the band's web site, "The August tour is going to be a blast...and we are very, very happy to know we will finally be playing our own shows come November in New York, L.A., and Chicago...The 20th anniversary shows will be magical."

A third tour, commemorating the release of the band's 1991 debut album "Gish", has been pushed back to sometime in 2009.

The PUMPKINS have tentative plans to issue a new single this fall, and there's speculation that the band could try out some new material on the August run.

Aug. 09 - Hammond, IN - The Venue
