SMASHING PUMPKINS: New Video Interview Available

Possum of Altitude TV conducted an interview with SMASHING PUMPKINS backstage after their Hollywood RockWalk induction ceremony on April 23. PUMPKINS frontman Billy Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin discuss the band's relationship with estranged original members James Iha and D'Arcy Wretzky and also the future of the PUMPKINS.

As part of the Hollywood RockWalk induction, Corgan and Chamberlin placed their hands in cement outside the Guitar Center in Hollywood. According to Reuters, Corgan said about the event, "I'm so used to bad vibes, people hating our band and throwing things at us. So it's strange to be honored. I had to think about it. I had to really lay in bed and think, 'Is this a good thing? Is this a silly thing?'I'm really honored. I'm really touched."

About 100 fans showed up for the ceremony, along with friends of the band and members of the media.

Meanwhile, Chamberlin reiterated the PUMPKINS' recent comments that they may never release a traditional album again in a new post at the group's official web site. The drummer wrote, "Although we may not use the album or full-length CD as a format anymore, we will write and record until we are dead."

Chamberlin also denied rumors that the PUMPKINS were splitting up. The band tentatively plans to issue some unreleased material online over the summer before hitting the road again this fall.

The PUMPKINS are suing their former label, Virgin Records, alleging that Virgin used their name and music in a promotional campaign without their permission.

The band, who released 2007's "Zeitgeist" after a seven-year hiatus, are now free agents. Corgan hinted that the group will most likely put songs out in different configurations than the standard CD.
