SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY Split With BOBBY HEWITT, Announce Replacement
June 27, 2003SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY have parted ways with Bobby Hewitt (ex-ORGY) and have replaced him with their original drummer Neil Taylor. "Bobby has been out of the band for months," SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY mainman Jason Slater wrote on the band's official web site. "I just didn't really want all the ORGY fans speculating on why he left and [thinking] that ORGY must be getting back together. It's been 3 months and he's hangin' out with his family and all is well. We are still good friends, everything is cool, and that, my friends, is that. I wish him the best and he seems much happier. Neil Taylor, our original drummer and hardcore S.R.C. road dog, is back in the band. Things are sounding good and Neil (A.K.A. 'O.W.') is a bro in the truest sense of the word...I'm very happy to have him back in the family.
"We have just recruited Eric Hendrikx on guitar, a bro of mine from way back in the day," Jason continued. "We go back 10 years. He's a guitar-playin' mutherfucker and we're proud to have him. He has added a heavier element to the band that was much needed and is a cool mutherfucker.
"Fab [Bobby's brother] is still in the band, and of course it wouldn't be S.R.C. without [singer] Tobey [Torres]. We are starting to play shows again and this lineup kicks fucking ass... I'm sure there are going to be a bunch of ORGY fans whining about Bobby being gone, but to be honest, I don't really give a fuck. If you became a fan of S.R.C. because we had the old drummer from ORGY in our band than you are missing the fucking point and I don't have time for ya. We've got some killer shows lined up soon and things are moving forward and that's all that matters. The shows will kick ass, the record will kick ass and fans of S.R.C. will be happy."
SNAKE RIVER CONSPIRACY are still seeking a record deal following their split with Reprise Records in 2001. Among the tracks tentatively set to appear on the follow-up to the group's 2000 debut, "Sonic Jihad", are "Shut Up", "Methlahem" and "Not Long For This World".
