SPIRITUAL BEGGARS: New Album To Feature ARCH ENEMY Bassist
July 27, 2004SPIRITUAL BEGGARS guitarist Michael Amott (ARCH ENEMY, ex-CARCASS) has posted the following studio report on the band's web site:
"We are back home from our recording session at Studio Fredman in Gothenburg, Sweden. We were in the studio for 8 days and we got all basic stuff down for 12 songs + some additional instrumental bits, I am more than happy with the result so far. Sonically, it's very raw and unpolished — and very, very heavy. I have a feeling that we are working on what could be our strongest effort to date! The songs are melodic and the groove is…colossal!!!
"Since we announced that we were heading into the studio, we have received e-mails from fans, wondering who's in the band right now. Now that's a very good question! Basically, it's the same as the 'On Fire' (2002) line-up. The only change being that the bass parts on the new album are played by Sharlee D'Angelo (ARCH ENEMY). Sharlee is obviously a great bass player and a fan of the band since our debut EP (1994). Sharlee's played some crazy 70's Geezer Butler/Gary Thain type stuff on the album — it sounds fucking great! So we welcome him into the fold of the mighty riff…buy him a drink next time you see him!
"So the line-up for the new album is: JB - Vocals, Sharlee D'Angelo - Bass, Per Wiberg - Keys, Ludwig Witt - Drums, Michael Amott - Guitar…I hope that clears things up!
"We'll be continuing working on the new album in mid-August, recording vocals, guitar solos and various other overdubs like percussion etc. Those things will be recorded at 'Slaughterhouse' — a local studio in our hometown of Halmstad, Sweden.
"We'll be back with more updates here at spiritualbeggars.com when we get back in the studio. Right now we are going to enjoy the rest of the (short) Swedish summer with our families and friends!"
