Spokesperson: Ex-GUNS N' ROSES Guitarist Will Not Be Collaborating With Actress GINA GERSHON
July 25, 2003A spokesperson for former GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has dismissed as "fiction" a Rolling Stonereport indicating that the current VELVET REVOLVER axeman will be collaborating with actress Gina Gershon on an original song for the "Prey for Rock and Roll" soundtrack. "Slash is totally committed to VELVET REVOLVER and is ONLY collaborating with [VR bandmates] Duff McKagan, Matt Sorum, Dave Kushner and Scott Weiland," the spokesperson, Arlett Vereecke, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET.
As previously reported, VELVET REVOLVER's first release will be a combination EP/DVD culled from the band's recent surprise gig at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles.
Although the exact track listing has yet to be finalized, the as-yet-untitled EP will most likely contain the majority of the six-song El Rey set, a studio version of an original song played that night and possibly another new, unheard studio track. The DVD will center around live footage taken from the gig. The EP is expected to surface on October 13 through Immortal Records.
VELVET REVOLVER's June 19 gig saw the band perform the SEX PISTOLS' "Bodies", GNR's "It's So Easy", STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' "Sex-Type Thing", NIRVANA's "Negative Creep" and a pair of originals, "Slither" and "Set Me Free", the latter of which was recently released on "The Hulk" soundtrack.
The group are expected to enter the studio on July 28 with producer Bob Ezrin (PINK FLOYD, KISS, JANE'S ADDICTION) to begin recording the studio version of "Slither" for inclusion on the EP. Look for the band to perform a couple of live shows in the Los Angeles area in August/September before going into the studio to record a full album, tentatively due in early 2004.
