ST. VITUS Announce One-Off Gig In Chicago
May 7, 2003The classic "Born Too Late"-era lineup of doom legends ST. VITUS — Dave Chandler (guitar),Scott "Wino" Wienrich (vocals),Armando Acosta (drums) and Mark Adams (bass) — will take the stage together for the fist time since 1991 on Tuesday, July 1 at the Double Door in Chicago, Illinois.
Dave Chandler had this to say about the reason behind the reunion and the choice of Chicago as the site of the band's first gig: "After [my new group DEBRIS INC.] performed 'Born Too Late' at Wacken Open Air [festival] in Germany last summer, I saw that people still care about my music. I wanted my old bandmates to see the reaction of people today to our music. We are going to play the With Full Force Festival in Germany [July 4-6] and thought we should do a club show to warm up. We picked Chicago because it has always been one of the best cities we ever played in."
ST. VITUS' performance in Chicago and subsequent appearance at With Full Force will not mark a full-fledged reunion of the group, according to Chandler, who says that he considers DEBRIS INC. to be his top priority. The latter band, which also includes former TROUBLE bassist Ron Holzner in its ranks, recorded a full-length album last year, and will also make an appearance at the July 1 gig, where you can expect a very unique set featuring some very special guests. Additional support at the Chicago gig will come from Chicago's very own MACABRE and veteran New Orleans sludge-meisters EYEHATEGOD.
