STAIND's AARON LEWIS Mounting Benefit Concert

June 16, 2010

According to The Pulse of Radio, STAIND frontman Aaron Lewis has unveiled plans for an acoustic benefit concert that will be presented by his It Takes A Community Foundation on August 14 at the Pines Theater at Look Park in Northampton, Massachusetts. Lewis will be joined at the show, dubbed Aaron Lewis & Friends, by Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 DOORS DOWN, punk artist Brendan Kelly and rock act LO-PRO.

Proceeds from the show will go to the Community Education Center in Worthington, Massachusetts and will help re-open the school's doors as a community school after formerly being a district-run facility. Lewis said in a statement, "My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts. We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities. Our foundation strives to do just that — to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community's future."

Lewis told The Pulse of Radio not long ago that even though he's a successful musician, he's aware of the effects that the 2008 financial crash has had on people around him. "You know, I think that everybody's struggling a little bit right now," he said. "Does it affect me the same way that it affects somebody who makes much less than I do? I'm sure it doesn't affect me as much, but it certainly does affect me and it certainly affects everything around me."

Tickets for the concert went on sale Tuesday (June 15),with a special VIP package available to members of STAIND's Dysfunctional Fan Club. Remaining tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday (June 18).

Lewis will continue to play scattered solo shows throughout the summer and work on his first solo album, while STAIND is enjoying a break following the end of touring last year for 2008's "The Illusion Of Progress".
