STAM1NA Tops Finnish Album Chart
February 21, 2008Lemi, Finland-based heavy metal quartet STAM1NA has topped the Finnish album chart with its third effort, "Raja", which came out on February 13 through Sakara Records. The CD was recorded at Purple Fly studio in the band's hometown. Production duties were handled by Janne Joutsenniemi, whose legendary band STONE was one of the STAM1NA's biggest influences. Miitri Aaltonen, who produced the first two STAM1NA albums, mixed the new CD.
Regarding the band's collaboration with Janne Joutsenniemi, STAM1NA guitarist/vocalist Antti "Hyrde" Hyyrynen previously said, "This is a match made in heaven and a big step for the band. Janne will most certainly bring his own thing to this album. Let's [put] it this way: The mustard machine is still the same but Janne changes our diapers."
Hyyrynen continued: "About the lyrical part I can say that again we search, explore and try both our and boundaries of humanity. During the last few years we have tried our limits and probably gone even beyond them."
STAM1NA was formed in 1996 and has released two albums so far: "Stam1na" (2005) and "Uudet Kymmenen Käskyä" (2006),which landed at No. 3 on the Finnish album chart and received the 2006 Emma award for "Best Metal Album".
