STATUS QUO Sign With SANCTUARY RECORDS

April 27, 2005

Sanctuary Records have announced the worldwide signing of STATUS QUO, who have sold over 100 million records in a 40-year-long career.

STATUS QUO will release a new album in September 2005 to coincide with the launch of their 40th anniversary celebrations. The band is currently in the studio recording with producer Mike Paxman.

Sanctuary Records worldwide CEO Joe Cokell commented, "It is great to have a band of QUO's stature on the label, and we look forward to working with them throughout the campaign."

Sanctuary Records Senior VP of A&R John Williams added, "No group has accumulated more U.K. hits or has a wider Top 20 chart span, and only THE BEATLES and ROLLING STONES can better their tally of Top 20 albums. We are thrilled that they have reunited with the home of their first hits, and we look forward to rocking all over the world with them."

Simon Porter, STATUS QUO manager said, "After a relationship with Universal spanning more than thirty years, we're delighted to be joining Sanctuary for QUO's 40th anniversary campaign. It is the start of an exciting new era for QUO and we're looking forward to building on the renewed success that the band has enjoyed in recent years."

The band's 40th Anniversary tour commences in Germany on September 23, with a major 34-date U.K. tour during November/December, sponsored by Kit Kat, which includes QUO's 40th appearance at Wembley on December 17. The band will also be making a special guest appearance in ITV's "Coronation Street" during the autumn.
