As previously reported, CAMP FREDDY is the Los Angeles-based "jam" band consisting of JANE'S ADDICTION guitarist Dave Navarro, former THE CULT touring bassist Billy Morrison (on guitar),ex-GUNS N' ROSES/THE CULT drummer Matt Sorum, and vocalist Donovan Leitch (the son of 1960s U.K. folk-rock icon Donovan).
According to Reuters, Tyler belted out LED ZEPPELIN's "Whole Lotta Love", with Sorum and the RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS' Chad Smith filling in for the late John Bonham on a pair of drum kits. McKagan covered THE DAMNED's "New Rose", a track from his old band's 1993 album "The Spaghetti Incident?", and later returned to the stage to play bass behind GREEN DAY singer Billie Joe Armstrong as he covered THE STOOGES' "Search and Destroy". KORN's Jonathan Davis, meanwhile, covered BLACK SABBATH's "Paranoid". Besides Sorum, the core band comprised Navarro, his JANE'S ADDICTION colleague Chris Chaney on bass and Morrison on guitar.
Commented Billy: "It's not often you get play a LED ZEPPELIN song with Steve Tyler on vocal and Chad Smith on drums! All the guests were great. An awesome night out."
