June 29, 2006

Canadian extremists STRAPPING YOUNG LAD have posted their video for the song "Wrong Side", from their upcoming album, "The New Black", at YouTube.com. The clip was shot in the New York City area on May 28 with director Dave Brodsky (THE RED CHORD, GOD FORBID). Look for the video to make its Fuse and MTV2 debut late next month. A full-length MP3 of the new song "You Suck" is available for download at this location.

Due on July 11 via Century Media Records, "The New Black" is described in a press release as "a stunningly well-defined and more diverse effort that is soon to be a landmark in the epic pantheon of heavy metal."

Century Media Records has just re-released STRAPPING YOUNG LAD's 1995 debut album, "Heavy As A Really Heavy Thing". The re-issue features a re-mastered version of this classic debut, four bonus tracks, the "S.Y.L." video and a 12-page booklet with extended liner notes from STRAPPING YOUNG LAD mainman Devin Townsend himself.

STRAPPING YOUNG LAD have secured a second-stage slot at this year's Ozzfest, which officially kicks off today (June 29) in Auburn, Washington. Other bands appearing the second stage include BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, ATREYU, UNEARTH, BLEEDING THROUGH and NORMA JEAN. Headlining the main stage at Ozzfest 2006 are SYSTEM OF A DOWN and DISTURBED, with OZZY OSBOURNE slated to close several shows.
