SUICIDAL TENDENCIES Frontman To Hold Spoken-Word Session At 'Skate Slam Contest' Event

July 14, 2011

Legendary Venice Beach skate punk icons SUICIDAL TENDENCIES are ready to break another boundary as they always have done in their almost 30-year career.

May 2011 saw the band launch an unique and never tempted project as they've been travelling all over Australia bringing their unique shows to the fans along with skate demos presenting to the world the first-ever skate team sponsored by a music band: the Suicidal Skate Team.

The shows and skate demos have been filmed for specials and one-hour recap episode that will be broadcasted in August on Fuel TV Australia, while the band will be touring all over Europe.

But that was just the beginning as charismatic lead singer of the band, Mike Muir, wants to push this unique music-skate project all over the world!

With the band coming back to Italy for two shows, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, in collaboration with Free Life Skate Shop-Fidenza and Vans Italy, will present the first ever Suicidal Skate Slam Contest. The event that will then be pushed worldwide will take place on Monday, August 8 at the TSC Skate Park in Via Sigonio, Carpi (MO),Italy. Starting late afternoon with free skating, the contest will be open to all the skaters with no restrictions and free subscription at the Vans booth directly at the skate park. The best skater selected by the Vans Italy skate team will be awarded by Mike Muir with full SUICIDAL TENDENCIES skate gear and Vans gear. ST and Vans products will be given to the best skater and goodies for all the fans that will be following the event. Right after, Muir will hold a spoken-word and signing session to present the soul of this unique project to all the fans and skaters, the Suicidal Surf Slam Skate Team. The event will then be closed by a skate demo by the Vans Italian skate team while music and a barbeque held by the skate park owners will be accompanying all the night.

The event will introduce the fans to the two shows that SUICIDAL TENDENCIES will be playing in Senigallia (AN) at Mamamia Club on August 9 and in Brescia at the Radio Onda D'Urto Festival on August 17.
