SYSTEM OF A DOWN Not Headed For Big Screen

January 4, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: SYSTEM OF A DOWN may live in Hollywood and even write songs about it, but don't expect to see the band making a movie any time soon. Although the group has toyed with the idea of adapting its "Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" albums to the screen, bassist Shavo Odadjian said that neither he nor guitarist Daron Malakian are keen on the idea. "I think we could put this to film as in, like, we even talked about maybe that happening, but we didn't make it happen," he said. "But I think it's very audio-visual. It paints pictures. So yes, we could do a movie to it, but I hate musicals too, so it's a unanimous vote. We're not doing it."

Odadjian has directed many of SYSTEM OF A DOWN's videos, including the clip for the title track from "Hypnotize".

"Mezmerize" and "Hypnotize" were released in May and November respectively. Both debuted on The Billboard 200 chart at No. 1 and have sold a combined total of nearly 2.5 million copies.

SYSTEM OF A DOWN plans to resume touring behind both albums early this year.
