THE DARKNESS To Descend On Ireland's METEOR AWARDS

According to the Irish Examiner, THE DARKNESS will perform at the sixth annual Meteor Music Awards in Dublin, it was confirmed today.

The spandex-clad band, which scooped the Meteor Award for Best International Group in 2004, will take to the stage in Dublin's Point Theatre on February 2, 2006.

The band's debut album, "Permission to Land", sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide — achieving multi-platinum status in Ireland.

Around 17 Meteor music awards will be presented at the awards ceremony.

Music fans will be able to vote for their favourite stars or band in six public categories – including Best Irish DJ and Best Irish Band – while the Hope for 2006 Award will be voted for by 2FM listeners.

Tickets for the Meteor Awards are available to win through competitions in newspapers, on radio, TV and through texting.
