THE GATHERING: Acoustic Rehearsal Footage Posted Online

December 19, 2009

Video footage of singer Silje Wergeland of Dutch/Norwegian rockers THE GATHERING performing a solo version of the song "You Promised Me A Symphony" during a recent acoustic rehearsal with the band can be viewed below.

Commented the group: "The last few days have been so beautiful here in Nijmegen (Holland),with snow falling and covering everything in white.

"Some of us met up a few days ago to have some nice food and drinks and to play around with some songs acoustically. We did a few THE GATHERING songs and some very nice cover songs.

"We hope at some point (maybe during the [upcoming THE GATHERING] tour?) we can do some of them live, but we will have to wait and see."

THE GATHERING's new album, "The West Pole", was released in North America on June 2 via Season of Mist. The CD was issued in most of Europe on May 4 via the band's own label, Psychonaut Records.

"The West Pole" marks the recording debut of Wergeland, who was previously in the Norwegian band OCTAVIA SPERATI. It also includes two very talented guest singers, Anne van den Hoogen and Marcela Bovio (STREAM OF PASSION),along with other guest musicians.

Singer Anneke van Giersbergen announced her departure from THE GATHERING in 2007. She has since launched a project called AGUA DE ANNIQUE, which has released three albums so far: "Air" (2007),"Pure Air" (2009) and "In Your Room" (2009).
