THE HUMAN ABSTRACT: New Song Posted Online; New Album Artwork Unveiled
June 19, 2008Los Angeles-based technical progressive metal band THE HUMAN ABSTRACT will release its second full-length CD, "Midheaven", on August 19 via Hopeless Records.
"The album follows a full cycle of man while he makes his ascent and discoveries and is eventually brought down by his lust of conquest and greed," says the band's vocalist, Nathan Ells. "Basically we wanted to have this album be cohesive all the way through. We came up with themes for each song and then wrote the songs like we were doing a film score and try to capture the mood musically for what each theme represents."
Although the initial sessions for "Midheaven" were helmed by veteran producer Toby Wright (METALLICA, SLAYER, ALICE IN CHAINS, SOULFLY, FEAR FACTORY),the CD was completed with a different producer and Wright's name was "wiped off all credits," according to drummer Brett Powell.
"Midheaven" tracklisting:
01. A Violent Strike
02. Procession Of The Fates
03. Breathing Life Into Devices
04. This World Is A Tomb
05. Metanoia
06. The Path
07. Echoes Of The Spirit
08. Calm In The Chaos
09. Counting Down The Days
10. A Dead World At Sunrise
The song "Procession Of The Fates" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page.
THE HUMAN ABSTRACT will team up with EYES SET TO KILL and FEAR AND FAITH for a short West Coast tour beginning tonight (June 19) in Hollywood, California.
THE HUMAN ABSTRACT's Hopeless Records debut, "Nocturne", was released in August 2006. The CD was recorded at a studio in North Carolina with with producer Jamie King (BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, THROUGH THE EYES OF THE DEAD, HE IS LEGEND). Mixing duties were handled by Eric Rachel (THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN, ATREYU).
