THE IRON MAIDENS: All-Female Tribute Band Hire DEREK RIGGS To Design CD Cover
April 5, 2005THE IRON MAIDENS, the world only all-female tribute to IRON MAIDEN (featuring members of the long-running Los Angeles hard rock act PHANTOM BLUE),have posted the cover artwork for their upcoming CD at their official web site. The artwork, which was conceived by former IRON MAIDEN designer Derek Riggs, can be viewed at this location. A close-up of the female "Eddie" on the cover can be viewed at MaidenFans.com.
Commented the group's bassist Wanda "Steph Harris" Ortiz: "[There] was a drawing dubbed 'Charlotte' done by a friend who has also done artwork for comic books and for the band PANTERA. The artwork was pro and we got a really good deal because we are friends with the artist.... but... after considering all the fuss everyone makes about Riggs, we decided we couldn't very well have anyone else do the artwork for our CD...even if it meant we had to spend extra. So... Riggs it is."
The album will be sold at THE IRON MAIDENS' upcoming shows and via their web site, since the band have no distribution network to rely on. A new line of merchandise will also be available. Check out audio clips of the songs "Children of the Damned", "Phantom of the Opera" and "Killers" at this location.
