The Ledger: Hard Rock Comes Back Around

August 16, 2003

Bill Dean of The Ledger is reporting that the Rock Never Stops tour, featuring WHITESNAKE, WARRANT, KIP WINGER and SLAUGHTER, "might just as well have been dubbed 'Hard Rock Comes Back Around', because as WARRANT bassist Jerry Dixon says, the groups are playing — and receiving crowd reactions — as if it's the heyday of heavy metal all over again. (Actual time warp to the late 1980s/ early 1990s not included.)

" 'It's kind of come back around to where rock 'n' roll is cool again,' Dixon says from a tour stop in Chicago. 'So we're just riding the wave again.'

"This year's Rock Never Stops Tour is the second in as many years for WARRANT, which like others on the bill saw the popularity of such hard-rocking, Spandexed groups swinging back into vogue three or four years ago.

"And as the 35-year-old Dixon suggests, there's been enough interest to warrant a national arena/amphitheater tour ever since.

" 'It's like pulling a rabbit out of the hat for the last few years. It's been nice,' he says.

" 'Four years ago, bands like us were playing clubs and maybe small theaters and stuff. But for the last four years in a row . . . it's been all big amphitheaters and arenas, so it's been awesome.

" 'We're like, 'Whoa! We're back,' ' Dixon says." Read more.
