THE PLASMARIFLE Frontman Is 'Amused' By Comments That Are Posted On BLABBERMOUTH.NET

Way Too Loud! recently conducted an interview with THE PLASMARIFLE/ex-NEURAXIS vocalist Maynard Moore. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below.

Way Too Loud!: When news of your album landed on certain websites, people were quick to tear you apart (not like that's different with any other band). If your band grows, soon they'll be wishing breakups, rape, AIDS and van flips on your. How do you feel about that?

Maynard Moore: Honestly? Encouraged. It means we're doing something right. I visit message boards like Blabbermouth regularly to see what is being said about us. Though the content is generic and repetitive, I find amusement at the comments that are posted about us. I'd begin to worry and care if nothing was being posted about us. A friend once gave me a word of encouragement. Talk crap about us, speak praise about us, but talk. No press is bad press.

Way Too Loud!: One statement that got some interest was saying that your album would appeal to fans of "having their dick slammed in a door." How did that come about?

Maynard Moore: This statement came about as a result of a double-blind, pre-test / post-test, randomized experimental quantitative study where it was found that instruments of measurements showed an internal consistency (Cronbach alpha) ranging from .76 to .94. Multiple comparison procedures isolated differences between group means and rejected the Anova null hypothesis. With background variables controlled, being in the "dick slammed in a door" treatment group was a significant predictor of appeal for this album.

Way Too Loud!: Isn't your guitarist Benoit Landreville now in DESPISED ICON?

Maynard Moore: Yes, Ben has indeed left THE PLASMARIFLE. Ravi Bhadriraju left JOB FOR A COWBOY and the position was filled by Al Glassman who was playing for DESPISED ICON. Having the opportunity to play for a great band like JOB FOR A COWBOY doesn't happen everyday. That meant that DESPISED ICON was now down one guitar and so they asked Ben to fill in for a European tour. Touring full-time is what Ben wants to be doing right now and he has the opportunity of being part of an extremely established band. We can't compete with that, nor would we want to stand in the way of him realizing his full potential and dreams. So, we felt it was in everyone's best interest to release Benoit Landreville from THE PLASMARIFLE. It was done very amicably and with his best interests in mind and we are still the very best of friends.
