TOMMY LEE Wrongful-Death Lawsuit Gets Trial Date
December 4, 2002A Los Angeles judge has set a trial date of April 2 for the wrongful-death lawsuit brought by the parents of a four-year-old boy who drowned last year while attending a birthday party at ex-MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer Tommy Lee's Malibu residence.
Superior Court Judge Richard Neidorf decided that the case should be heard before a jury at a hearing last week, confirmed Tom Girardi, the lawyer representing the victim's parents, actress Ursula Karven and television producer James Veres.
The couple decided to sue Lee for negligence last February, months after their son, Daniel Karven-Veres, was found floating facedown in the shallow end of Tommy's backyard swimming pool.
The suit, which seeks unspecified damages, charges Lee with reckless behavior and failing to provide proper supervision, claiming the rocker's caretaker left the kids in the pool unsupervised during the June 16, 2001 bash for Brandon Lee, the then-five-year-old son of Lee and ex-wife Pamela Anderson, and one of Daniel's playmates.
