TOOL Finds 'Pot' Of Gold With Latest Single
November 29, 2006Launch Radio Networks reports: TOOL keeps scoring rock radio hits despite being notorious for writing long, complex songs that aren't exactly radio-friendly. Drummer Danny Carey told Launch that the group had an inkling its latest chart-topping track, "The Pot", could get a lot of airplay. "It's obvious when songs have that solid of a hook to 'em and just have a more straight-ahead groove and aren't quite as long maybe as some of the other ones are," he said. "So it just makes sense. But we don't try to write the songs to have that direction by any means, you know, we just kind of do what we do, and if we're lucky enough to get a song that has that type of a hook or a hit potential, then we go with it."
"The Pot" comes off TOOL's fourth studio album, "10,000 Days", which has sold 1.3 million copies since its release last May.
TOOL is currently in the midst of a two-month European tour. The group will headline Australia and New Zealand's Big Day Out festival in early 2007 before launching another North American trek in mid-March.
The band also expects to shoot a video for "The Pot" over the holidays.
