TYPE O NEGATIVE Skip Halloween Show, Prepare To Enter Studio
October 3, 2002TYPE O NEGATIVE will enter Systems II Studios in Brooklyn, New York at the end of the month to commence recording the long-awaited follow-up to 1999's World Coming Down CD. As a result, the band will not be doing their traditional shows to celebrate Halloween and will instead focus all their attention on completing the as-yet-untitled album for a tentative February release through Roadrunner Records.
"As most of you know, we usually do some shows around Halloween regardless of what the current status of the band," drummer Johnny Kelly wrote on the band's official web site. "[Frontman] Peter [Steele] actually enjoys touring that time of the year. It's the only time that he can go outdoors unnoticed. This year will be the first year in many that we aren't going to be doing any shows. It's kind a of a 'good thing, bad thing'.
"The bad is that we aren't going to be doing our traditional shows to celebrate Halloween which has always been a great time for the band and the fans. The good is that we can't do the shows this year because we are going to be in Systems II recording the new CD. The band is currently in rehearsals so that the recording will go smoother. If we were to do the shows, it would further push back the release of the new cd. We're hoping for an early 2003 release. If things go according to plan we should see the new CD in stores sometime Feb. So that's the bottom line. No shows because we will be recording."
