VADER Frontman Issues Year-End Update

January 3, 2010

Guitarist/vocalist Piotr "Peter" Wiwczarek of Polish death metallers VADER has issued the following update:

"On behalf of VADER commando, I would like to wish you extremely metal year 2010! Let it be a fulfillment of your dreams and expectations!!! I also take the occasion to briefly summarize the past year 2009.

"It was another hard-working year in our career. We played nearly 150 gigs!!! It was also a time of trial for the new line up of the band and... we passed the exam, just because 'when there's a WILL, there's a WAY!'

"The band was well received by both European and U.S. fans (worth to mention that in the U.S. we played nearly 40 gigs closing the year 2009). But, of course, the most important for us is a new record deal with mighty Nuclear Blast and the new album, 'Necropolis'.

"The album was released in the end of August (Europe) and September (the U.S.) and immediately gained a huge number of supporters — both among diehard VADER's maniacs and also large amount of new fans. Thank you for this!!!

"I'm so sorry to say that our 'favourite' Internet instigators and trolls (I am talking here mainly to our Polish countrymen...) didn't see the band's collapse and downfall. VADER still exists and 'Necropolis' is just the beginning!

"How about recent news from band's camp? Guitarist Marek Pajak known from a Polish band ESQARIAL will join VADER on the upcoming tour with MARDUK in January. Vogg, who played with us during the last year, is going to hit the road with his great band DECAPITATED. We wish him all the best for the future, another crushing album of DECAPS, and would like to thank for a great time he spent with VADER. Let the power be with you, brother!!!

"In mid-February, we kick off a tour in the U.K., Ireland and Benelux. Right after the tour we hit the road again, appearing on U.S. Killfest together with OVERKILL.

"Once again, THANK YOU for a great 2009! Stay metal!"

As previously reported, VADER is seeking a U.S.-based session guitarist for the upcoming "Killfest 2010" tour with OVERKILL (headliner),GOD DETHRONED, WARBRINGER and EVILE. Interested parties can contact the group at [email protected].

VADER's new album, "Necropolis", sold around 1,130 copies in the United States in its first week of release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The CD landed at position No. 19 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.

"Necropolis" was recorded at Hertz studios in Bialystok, Poland with the Wieslawski Bros.. Tue Madsen, who previously worked with such bands as MOONSPELL, CATARACT, HEAVEN SHALL BURN and many more, mixed the CD at his Antfarm Studios in Denmark.

"Never Say My Name", the new video from VADER, was inspired by Patrick Graham's bestselling book "L'Évangile Selon Satan" (translation: "The Gospel According to Satan"). The clip tells an alternate story of the death of a messiah who curses humanity before his death on the cross and chooses life in Hell instead of Heaven. Perhaps because of its "controversial" title and content, this book is not available in the U.S. in English, but a French version can be ordered from Canada.
