VALBORG Writing New Material
September 30, 2008Germany's atmospheric/death metal/rock band VALBORG, which will release its debut album, "Glorification Of Pain", on Vendlus Records this November, has already started to rehearse material for the follow-up, "Crown of Sorrow", due out sometime in 2009.
Commented the band: "We are rehearsing the new material for 'Crown of Sorrow' with Florian Toyka on drums. Florian is known for his drumming in WOBURN HOUSE, and he's also member of KLABAUTAMANN and ISLAND, both whom are on the Vendlus roster too.
"We've already written five new songs. Some titles include 'Wisdoms from the Vortex', 'Crying Under the Fortress of God' and 'I am Space'. In the middle of December we will head into the Stonehenge Studio to record the new songs the same way we recorded out upcoming album 'Glorification of Pain' — as a live recording on analog equipment."
While VALBORG's first album was more blast beats and the songs were a little bit more progressive, after six months of writing and working on "Glorification Of Pain", it was obvious that the band was coming into changes musically. The band's new approach was to record everything live in the studio and that allowed them to focus more on the rock side of things — reducing material to basics — and allow everything to be playable.
You can hear the new track "Chains Of Frost" at the band's official MySpace page.
The artwork for the album was created by Peter Boehme, a graphics artist had helped with the graphics for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars.
