May 26, 2016Legendary heavy metal singer Ozzy Osbourne returned to his native Birmingham, England earlier today (Thursday, May 26) to launch a new tram named after him.
The BLACK SABBATH frontman was on hand for the official ceremony at the new tram stop on Corporation Street in Birmingham, where he was born and raised.
He told the crowd: "It's great to be here. Thank you very much.
"We never thought when we started in 1968 that we'd be here. It's been an incredible journey."
Asked how he felt to return to his home city, he said: "Once a Brummie, always a Brummie."
Trams returned to Birmingham last December after a 60-year absence.
The tram-naming ceremony was organized by Centro, the delivery arm of the West Midlands Integrated Transport Authority (ITA).
Ozzy and BLACK SABBATH, which formed in Birmingham, resume their farewell tour on June 1 in Budapest, Hungary.
