Video Premiere: EUROPE's 'The Siege'
May 8, 2018EUROPE's video for the song "The Siege" can be seen below. The clip was helmed by acclaimed director Patric Ullaeus of the Revolver Film Company AB (IN FLAMES, DIMMU BORGIR, LACUNA COIL).
"The Siege" is taken from EUROPE's latest album, "Walk The Earth", which was released last October via EUROPE's own Hell & Back label through Silver Lining Music. The follow-up to 2015's "War Of Kings" was laid down at London, England's legendary Abbey Road studios and was produced by Dave Cobb, who also helmed the band's previous disc.
Singer Joey Tempest told Planet Rock about the lyrics for "The Siege": "[It is] basically a postcard from the French Revolution, where democracy took a giant leap forward in France (and subsequently Europe). I worked with my old friend Chris Difford (from the band SQUEEZE) on this lyric." As for the music, Tempest said: "John Levén [bass] sent us this riff/idea and we all loved it. In rehearsal, we put it together with a chorus idea Mic [Michaeli, keyboards] had and a very cool song started to emerge. In Abbey Road, Dave helped us with the feel and arrangements and also the small quirky stops in verses and outro."
"Walk The Earth" features original artwork by famed Los Angeles artist Mike Sportes of Filth Mart.
