Video: RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER Performs In Toronto
October 2, 2015Decibel Geek has uploaded video footage of RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER, the new project featuring Juan Croucier (RATT),Pete Holmes (BLACK 'N BLUE),Mike Moore and Toni Aleman, performing the RATT classic "Lack Of Communication" on September 26 at Rockpile in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Check it out below.
RATT'S JUAN CROUCIER, which exclusively plays songs from the RATT catalog, made its live debut on September 24 at the Token Lounge in Westland, Michigan.
RATT drummer Bobby Blotzer, who last month elected himself the CEO of WBS, Inc. — RATT's touring entity and the sole and exclusive owner of the RATT trademarks — has filed a trademark infringement action against Croucier claiming that Croucier "formed a band which tours around the world under the name Juan Croucier's RATT's [sic] and plays the songs of RATT." Blotzer also objected to Croucier referring to himself "for marketing, promotions, advertising and for general purposes as 'The Other Voice of RATT," explaining that "Croucier was never the lead singer of RATT" and that "all members of [RATT] sang and sing harmony vocals during live shows and on records."
According to Blotzer's complaint, "Croucier has been using trademarks which are identical, closely similar, or substantially indistinguishable" to the official RATT band logos "to promote Juan Croucier, his music, his services, Juan Croucier's RATT's [sic], his merchandise without [Blotzer's] permission or authorization." In addition, Blotzer alleges that Croucier has used the RATT logo "intentionally, knowledge and deliberate disregard, in order to draw RATT fans away from [Blotzer's] band's shows, to secure performances and venues so that [Blotzer's] band's could not secure those same performances and venues, to confuse consumers, promoters, and venues to believe that Juan Croucier is still a member of RATT or is some way affiliated, associated, endorsed or sponsored by [Blotzer]."
Croucier rejoined RATT in 2012 for their show at the M3 Rock Festival in Columbia, Maryland. This marked his first appearance with the band since 1991.
RATT guitarist Warren DeMartini earlier this week filed a lawsuit against Blotzer, claiming that the drummer is falsely advertising his "tribute band" as the real thing.
Blotzer announced on September 23 that he was taking control of the RATT name and was planning to hit the road with a new version of the group, which played shows earlier in the year under the name BOBBY BLOTZER'S RATT EXPERIENCE.
