VOIVOD: Lead Vocals Done; Mixing To Begin

VOIVOD frontman Denis "Snake" Belanger has started laying down tracks for the group's much-anticipated new album with producer Glen Robinson (VOIVOD's "Nothingface", TEA PARTY, GWAR) at Multisons studio in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The singer has posted his sixth entry on the band's blog about the studio work that includes studio updates, tidbits and photos:

"This is it... it's done. Now I just have to listen to the whole thing. I might add a few things here and there. I spent my time doing it, not having time to listen to it with clear head, clean ears, with an objective point of view. Yeah I'm glad it's done. It's a relief. I’ve been holding it for so long. As I was packing my stuff tonight I couldn't believe that we were already entering in another process. ...Mixing.

"Thanks to Piggy...You're GOD!"

The follow-up to 2003's "Voivod" is the first album in the band's 20-plus-year career that will not feature founding guitarist Denis "Piggy" D'Amour working alongside his bandmembers in the studio. D'Amour died August 26, 2005 in a Montreal hospital from complications of advanced colon cancer.

In order to record the album, Michael "Away" Langevin, Belanger and bassist Jason "Jasonic" Newsted are utilizing all of the guitar parts that Piggy had recorded for the record on his laptop with ProTools before his death.

VOIVOD's as-yet-untitled new album should surface sometime later this year on The End Records in North America.
