WARRANT: New EPK Released
September 1, 2010A new EPK (Electronic Press Kit) from Californian rockers WARRANT can be viewed below.
WARRANT announced in September 2008 that it was splitting with Jani Lane six months after the band first reunited with the troubled vocalist. He has since been replaced by Robert Mason (LYNCH MOB, CRY OF LOVE, BIG COCK).
WARRANT is currently in the studio writing and recording a new album for an early 2011 release.
In a March 2010 online post, WARRANT drummer Steven Sweet stated about the group's new material, "We're not trying to reinvent the wheel. Our hopes are that we will satisfy the cravings of every rock fan that has ever heard a WARRANT album and wished they were longer.
"Consider the new WARRANT sound as merely an extension of what we've done to date with a little more seasoning behind it.
"Stylistically, the new tracks are perhaps a bit more diverse than on previous releases. Of course there's the killer ballad or two, the up-tempo, slam-it-out-until-you-pass-out rockers, and some stuff that harkens back to our '70s roots. You'll know it when you hear it and it will definitely satisfy!
"With Pat Regan [KISS, MR. BIG, DEEP PURPLE] skillfully helming the board, as he did on 'Born Again', the sound is pure WARRANT and then some — thanks to the boy with the golden pipes, Robert Mason."
On July 19, Lane pled no contest to DUI stemming from his most recent arrest back in May — and has been ordered to serve 120 days in jail. In addition, Lane will lose his license for three years and will have to complete a 30-month alcohol-education program.
Lane originally left WARRANT in 2002 to pursue a solo career. He released a solo album, "Back Down to One", in 2003, but shortly after was admitted to a rehab center for alcohol and drug-related exhaustion. He also appeared on VH1's reality series "Celebrity Fit Club".
