WITHERSOUL Cancel DEATH IN THE FOREST Festival Appearance

May 19, 2006

Richmond, VA-based doom/death band WITHERSOUL have issued the following statement:

"As much as we hate to do this, WITHERSOUL has cancelled from being on the Death in the Forest festival [set to take place May 20 at the Avalon in New York City]. We've talked to TJ [Morris, festival organizer] and informed him of our cancellation. We can't risk driving 400-plus miles each way for a festival that has been teetering on the edge of cancellation and constant replacements all week long. Also the fact we have no hotel reservations (plus we'd not be able to afford anything inside NYC either). Not to mention to have all those bands two stages for a 20-minute set isn't a good thing for a band that plays 10+ minute songs. This trip alone would have cost us well over 1,000 dollars all together at its current location. We have very set and limited finances and we can't risk coming up all that way for very little. If this would have happened a week earlier, something could have been arranged. We are all seriously bummed out over this, and have been looking forward to this for almost six months now...

"We hope everything goes well for TJ Morris and Watchers Entertainment and everyone has a kick-ass time..."
