World Premiere Of Ex-SKID ROW/SAIGON KICK Drummer's Documentary Set For Chicago
March 29, 2005Eris Productions and PTP Productions announced today that the new documentary "Waking Up Dead", starring former SAIGON KICK/SKID ROW drummer Phil Varone, will have its world premiere next month in Chicago. The feature-length documentary will be shown at the Chicago International Documentary Festival on Saturday, April 9, 2005.
The screening will take place at the Chopin Theatre in Chicago's famous Wicker Park art district at 10:15 p.m. Tickets may be purchased for the film by calling 773-486-9612 or by going to the festival web site at ChicagoDocFestival.org.
Producer-director Fabio Jafet says, "'Waking Up Dead' is the real-life rise and fall of a rock star. It is an all-access, unprecedented look at what really goes down in the rock underworld. It exposes everything from the corruption of the music industry to the egos that end careers and break up families. There is very little glamour in the world of sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll."
The film documents four years in the life of Varone. "I went to hell and back … and it's all captured on camera in 'Waking Up Dead'," he says. "The premiere of this film represents a new chapter of my life, and will hopefully help change the lives of those who see it."
A preview of "Waking Up Dead" is available on the film's web site at WakingUpDeadMovie.com.
"Waking Up Dead" will be distributed domestically by Celebration Pictures Inc., a subsidiary of Film And Music Entertainment, Inc. It will be distributed internationally through Celebration International Pictures.
